Are you having problems with your fan motor and have decided to replace it? We have put together a step-by-step guide so that you, as a customer, can feel secure in carrying out your exchange.
A few things to consider before starting the installation of the Fan motor:
*Turn off the electricity completely, preferably from the plug cabinet.
*Check that the replacement motor and connectors are identical to the old one, before removing the old motor.
*Do not try to move the pump, do the replacement in place. The unit's gas lines can be easily damaged and begin to leak.
Estimated time required: 30 min
This is what you need: Phillips screwdriver
Step 1:
The heat pump's power switch can be set to position "0", but as said, preferably switch off the electricity from the plug cabinet.
Step 2:
Then open the upper front cover, you can do that easily by pulling it out at the bottom edge and then lifting it up. Now take out the filter.
Step 3:
Then open the inner cover by loosening the 9 screws on the outer edges of the cover. Use a Phillips screwdriver to do this best.
Step 4:
When the cover has been loosened, it is time to disassemble the fan motor, the motor is disassembled by loosening the four screws and loosening the quick connector of the fan cable. Pull the motor upwards along the rails, it is important here that you pay attention to the copper pipes as they may contain gas.
Step 5:
When the old fan motor is still removed, it is a good idea to take the opportunity to check the condensate tray under the evaporator. The connection for the condensate hose is also checked to ensure that it is not clogged.
Step 6:
Now it's time to put in the new fan motor, screw the new motor in the same way you took it off. Route the new cable the same way you took it out and connect it in the same place as the previous cable.
Step 7:
Replace the inner cover with all nine screws, then replace the front.
Step 8:
Turn the power back on and you're done!
This guide is also good to use when it is time for the fan's annual cleaning, then carefully brush the blades clean (important that the blades are not damaged).
