Choose the right filter

Do you have a villa or apartment that has its own FTX unit?

Choosing and buying the right filter is equally important for both health and financial reasons.

In order to capture harmful particles of different sizes, you should choose the right filter, but also so that the filter can last throughout its lifetime.

Buying cheap pirate filters is something many people do to avoid spending a lot of money, but it can instead end up much more expensive than the recommended original filter as they can be clogged much faster and electricity costs rise.

There are many important things to consider when buying a new filter, here we list some questions and answers that can help you understand why original filters are recommended!

Why should the filter have good air resistance?

In order for the air flows to work correctly and bring in and remove the air correctly, you must have a filter with good air resistance. If you have a filter with the wrong air resistance, you will end up with wrong air flows.

Can incorrect air resistance lead to moisture damage?

Answer yes! The air pressure indoors must be slightly lower than outdoors to avoid moisture damage to external walls, ceilings and floors. For it to work, you should change to a filter with the right air resistance so as not to create excess pressure indoors, then you adjust the ventilation so that it sucks out more air than it blows in.

Why does the energy consumption increase with the wrong filter?

When there is higher air resistance, the fans have to work harder and therefore draw more power.

How often should you change the filter?

At least once a year but preferably twice. If there are a lot of particles in the outdoor air (dust, pollen, smoke, car exhaust etc.) then change often as it risks getting clogged more quickly.
